Griff adds Traverse Winding to its arsenal

Griff Paper & Film is always expanding and ever growing in order to meet the many needs of the industry. Griff Paper & Film already offers a wide variety of converting services including slitting, rewinding, coating, sheeting, and die-cutting. However, traverse winding is a growing niche within the converting industry.

So what does Traverse Winding mean to me?

When you are running very narrow width rolls of any material you will often have to create a splice every 5 minutes which negates efficiency. With traverse winding you will be able to run these narrow rolls longer, without splicing. Traverse winding is growing and not limited to paper anymore either. All materials are now included such as tear tapes, laminates, nonwovens, films, and foils. These long narrow rolls are perfect for packaging materials.

The traverse winder is able to slit widths as low as 1/8th to an inch. It is also equipped with 14 spool heads. The material will undergo the "traverse" process, which will laterally move the spool back and forth onto the spool, creating the small but long rolls.
