Griff Upgrades Coating Capabilities

Griff Invests Over One Million Dollars in Coating Upgrades to Help Client Capacity

The Griff Network upgrades coating capabilities by adding new equipment.

Griff Paper and Film, a manufacturer of specialty substrates for most industries, has invested over $1,000,000 to one of its coating lines at its Applied Laminates 101 facility expanding production capacity and coating diversity.

Over the course of the last several months, Griff took advantage of easier access to machine and service suppliers to implement the changes which were planned for the 1st quarter of 2021. “Our thought was to speed up the process to position our company to service our client’s needs as business swings back into normal production levels in 2021. Our clients, who use our silicone-coated products essentially drove our decision,” says John Phinn, Director of Coated Products.

Griff currently coats silicone release liners for building/construction, tape, label, sealant, electronics, and healthcare applications. Specific coater improvements included new drives, curing upgrades, auto-splicing, inline slitting/rewinding, and adding inline back printing.

These improvements will have a direct effect on our customers by adding capacity, controlled release level quality, and shortening lead times from trialing to production. In addition, this coating line has the unique capability of running very thin smooth formulations at high speeds increasing controlled quality for our clients.
